![]() The tables are incredibly small and we were just crammed inside this small space. So, my friends arrive shortly after and turns out that despite having a reservation, the table was not ready. The hosted pointed out that they were already seated, just to be roaming around the restaurant and the party was not even there. When I arrived, I said I was here for my friend's party. My friend had made a reservation for ten people at 9:00PM. The hostesses in the front of the restaurant were very nice, however, not organized. The inside of this place is absolutely gorgeous. Something I did enjoy from the start is that they offer valet parking. One of my close friends chose this bar to celebrate her birthday. I know you've certainly not gained my business or my family or friends. To the owner(s) of The Alcove, if you consider yourselves a neighborhood bar then maybe try to be welcoming to folks other than your "Cheers crew." I feel embarrassed for you all and how you run your business. is that too much to ask? I'm so disappointed because I wished that it was a good experience because this place has so much amazing potential!!! How does this place stay in business? Please, just be kind to people. After I ordered they took their time getting the drinks as I awkwardly stood there waiting. That's fine but I'm 33, not sure why the intense scrutiny. Then the bartender asked for my ID and she proceeded to scrutinize it and check the name also on my credit card. They acted inconvenienced and annoyed when I tried to order. Everyone knew each other's names which is awesome, but if they didn't know you, you might as well be invisible. It was unclear where to order and when I went inside to order, the atmosphere and folks at the bar were ICY COLD, VERY unwelcoming. We live in State Thomas and the wine bar is just down the street. Last night my husband and I went to have a glass of wine at The Alcove. ![]() I rarely ever leave reviews of establishments, but in this instance I feel that I absolutely must. I wouldn't tell someone not to go, but I would say to go on a weeknight and save yourself the hassle. I understand this place is busy and in high demand but I certainly felt it could have been better organized. When she did call names she did so rather quietly and gave someone about 30 seconds to respond before moving on. She told us it wasn't our turn and that she didn't know. The hostess made it very clear if you did not respond when your name was called you would be skipped. We came back 40 minutes later and asked if we could get an estimate on time because we wanted to make sure we got our spot. They told us an hour wait and we didn't want to just stand there so we walked around. They had a wait-list but the only way to make sure you got in was to wait out front until the hostess called your name. And while that's not the end of the world (I've waited for good places before) their management of it was not so great. ![]() That being said, we had to wait almost 2 hours to get in on a Saturday night. The drinks are inventive and tasteful and if you are here for Christmas the interior is beautiful. It's small but that's no issue for me because I was seated at a table. I'll start with the good because it really is a lovely place.
